The statesman, who was a major force in the country's governance for a long period, passed away on midweek at age 80 while receiving medical treatment in India.

Numerous followers assembled on roadways from sunrise, with disorder erupting when enormous throng forced open a gate at the capital's primary venue, prompting military personnel to discharge weapons upward.

Aviation Hub Incident and Government Building Situation

Earlier in the day, countless of mourners momentarily entered Nairobi's international airport, halting a formal proceeding where the nation's leader and government representatives were receiving Odinga's corpse with formal recognition.

This situation led to a temporary halt of aviation services.

Assemblies also occupied nearby roads and attempted to breach the legislative building, where the authorities had first arranged the public viewing.

Political Impact and Ethnic Backing

Though mainly known as an opposition figure, Odinga assumed the role of prime minister in 2008 and also struck a political pact with the leader last year in a public service characterized by shifting alliances.

He commanded passionate devotion among supporters, especially in his cultural background based in the country's west, many of whom believe he was deprived of the presidency by electoral fraud.

Numerous of Odinga's supporters, who were not living in 1991 when Kenya transitioned to a multi-party democracy, expressed respect to Odinga's work as an advocate.
