World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB reported this is the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance after 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
